wouldn't there be symptoms though like pinging under acceleration up a hill or something or lack of power at acceleration?

I tightened it after making sure the belt was still in great condition! Every time I accelerate it squeals for a split second at 3K rpm in the first three gears...what's the problem?? No leaks or fun...
