I don't think it matters how many clicks you have to be honest.
Mine failed on the MOT cos it could be pulled all the way up (took alot of force to do it and normally 3/4 was enough to apply the brake...

Personally I don't know too much about the clutch. I would assume that the clutch would have springs and also the pedal would have a spring.
I admit the seal may have gone which would explain the cha...

yeah, put a plate in first and you should be fine for a wing or wiper.
You cannot screw direct into fibre as the thread would not hold. If a metal plate was installed during the manufacturing process...
