Yup. Automatic transmissions rarely ever shift at redline stock. Unless you broke your TCM or something, or modified it..

Umm.. It might be too late for you to change to synthetic if you have pretty high miles.. I would stay away from it, since it's lot thinner, and you might develop a leak. Tune up sounds good though.....
