I say go ahead and get the side skirts.
Whenever you need to leave you can always jack your coilovers up and go down your driveway, then lower them once you hit the street and viceaversa.

I personally like the hatchback better.
If you got a coupe you could always do the sweet conversion to your trunk lid and make it a flip lid like all the civics.
