They look like match marks to me, so you don't mix up the rods and rod caps. The rods can go in any hole position when assembling.

You can get rid of the Code 71 fault with a radio shack .$99 resistor. I adjusted the timing yesterday was set at about 14degs, corrected it back to ten.
