Another question.. If I get a 160 amp alternator, will it always be drawing more amps? As in.. If it's nearly 100 amps more, will I always be losing 4 hp, or only when it needs it?

Okay so I took it for a test drive and it started doing the same thing, running rough, nearly stopping at anything under 3000 rpms. I haven't tried to start it yet. Going to give it a shot tomorrow.
