It can be done. Its not easy. Its probably not worth the money you'll spend on it. Get an SAFC or an e-manage. Or if you're really good just go full standalone.

I would just have it rebuilt with new bearings and synchros. If you're really serious and have the money have everything shotpeened and/or cryo treated. You really shouldn't have any trouble with it...
