i have 215/45 17's on a 17x8 and the stretch isn't that bad. I think you could go 225/45 17 with no problems. if its just for the winter and you are afraid of rubbing then get some coil spring spacers...

this is normal. and use 35 in your tires.
i don't think both wheels get power all the time and when under acceleration it will pull to the left.
