Does anyone know how to remove the 2 plugs/fasteners that hold the driver's footrest? Doesn't look like there is any way to grab them, pull them or twist them.

Just look for a vert in a junkyard. The rear window motors are rarely bad. Getting the motor out of the car is another story.
