You DO need to apply the RTV. There are many threads about people not using it only to discover it leaks after installation.

Eibach sportlines don't give an uneven looking drop. It looks great with them; I've gotten many compliments. On rough roads however, you're not going to have the most comfortable ride.

If that's true then I imagine that it is caused by a greater load being put on the engine.
