Then it sounds like it would go on the bottom of the body's strut mount location. Most likely to abuse some shock and balance things out.
But I'm purely guessing, I haven't done suspension work on a 6...

Waste of gas? If you leave your car ideling for about 15 mins, you'll use less gas then the start up process.
As far as the rest of your claims, all those things would only even make a noticeable diff...

What's your mileage? Toyota's heads are naturally a bit noisy, but I'm willing to bet you're due of a valve adj. Also run some high quality oil. Those two things should have you set.
