The rust normally gets hold because the drains get blocked. Both my doors have the dreaded tin worm. If it's not too bad, sand/grind as much off as you can. Treat with a good rust treatment/convertor ...

But getting the charger (TRD one for ease of install) means buying in from the US on the rare occasions the do come up, also, freaking expensive,
