Ya its most likely the switch on your tranny, if its not the bulbs that is. I had that prob on my first car and just had the switch replaced

Well I dont know if its the rod you speak of since it wouldnt explain him having trouble once the engine is heated up but its still something to consider, to me it sounds like some lubrication issues....
