A big battery won't kill your system... the starter will draw whatever power it needs. The battery won't "force" more power down the line than a component needs.

I alternate between 5w30 and 10w30. Doesn't really matter. Once the car is warmed up, both oils offer the same protection. Just be gentle on accelleration until she's warmed up.
