Im in the process of building my own tail-lights using the body of the OEM tails. Then I am swapping the high beams with the low beams, and putting a turn signel in the high beams (outer lights.)

Had the same problem with my first amp...now about 12 amps later I would say you were asking to much of the amp and your over heating it. Your going to end up frying the amp!
