i can still get my stage 1 too slip if i completely mess up and its not stiff at all
id say go for it..
it wont be that bad and it will hold up a better to stress than a oem clutch/ IE.driving fast

i have a stage 1 street disc and it helps a bunch mostly when it warms up
but it will work as long as the motor in the mr2 was a 5sfe you would have too ask

you might have a bad clutch and before the wheels give way your clutch gives way(happened to my friends 240sx)
cuz you should be able to get tire spin hitting 2nd hard at 40mph
and burn all the way do...
