Sounds more like a bad master cylinder than a bad brake booster, booster will typically cause a high/hard pedal like trying to stop the car without the engine running.

Without knowing the limits and by how much you failed it's hard to say but just check that everything is in spec like ignition timing, plug gap, coil resistance, etc.
