this exact same thing happened to my friend in his mercury mystique. but he ran straight over a medain which caused it.

itb's will help you engine "breath deeper" (ie the car will breath more like a v8) and respond better. you will also see much larger gains in simpler bolt on, such as exaust.

there really isnt going to be any gain in a "high performance" battery. but locating to the back is the bad ass way to bling out your engine bay. just get some jumper cables and strip them and slip th...
