manual trannys are made to handle 3k RPM at 65 MPH just as auto trannys are programmed to go about 2,4k RPM at 60...
Your car will be fine...gas milage will be same if not better than auto...you will ...

I have similar problems...I get about 320 maximum (with a 15.9 GAL tank that's only about 20 MPG)
Have you gotten your oil replaced regularly?
Maybe your car is not aligned...this contributes to a few...
