I just let it dangle slightly below the engine (supported of course) so its out of the way. If I were to replace the compressor (or any other A/C system part) then I would evac the system.

EFI Relay check....
It would be easiest if you did have any CEL's, since your OBDII it should be no problem (if anything pops). Besides, the relay in the right kick panel is for the heater, sooooooo....

I once used Permatex radiator patch stuff, just to get me through until a new one arrived. It held up pretty good, but I wouldn't use something like that as a permanent solution though.
