3/4" Novaply, many prefer it over MDF. It has no harmful chemicals in it, it is a bit lighter, and cheaper. 16$ a sheet here, where as MDF is 21$.

I never said A-bahns subs are under-rated........their subs are VERY over-rated.....my old alumQ was fine with 400w when I first got it. A-bahn rates their RMS on their subs in very small enclosures....

There SVC 4ohm, so wire them in parallel to achieve a 2ohm load and get 1 600w amp. Mono.....like a JBL 600.1

First off, the scratching you heard is your HU clipping...very bad, turn it down. Try turn down the bass going to the speakers in your car...that may help the clipping.
