But what does the prep work consist of?? I could ask and have them tell me that, "we need to tighten the lugs" as part of the prep work and i wouldn't know the difference.

You can get the GR-2s for 170.92 at classicgarage.com...I am in need of these as well and thats the cheapest i found them for.
All i know is that our cars dont have shocks.

I think the pro kit is 1" drop. We use struts. Most commonly used struts are KYB GR-2. OEM replacements.
