My 95 celica GTs steering pump was/is growling pretty bad so I put in a new pump. It's still howling though!
I bled the system ..alot
I flushed the system
the fluid is Mobile 1 sythetic Dexron....

I think that as a clutch wears the grip point moves higher not lower. I would probably look for hydraulic issues (with the clutch master or slave) first. You may have a leak, or some air in the system...
