I had Toyota brake pads installed last year, and Toyota brake rotors machined. However, on Monday during maintenace service I was taken to the garage and shown that I had cracks in left brake pads (didn't see the right ones). This is the second time this has happened, and the Toyota guys belive its my driving style, which I would say is heavy on the braking when coming to a stop, I never ride the brakes, or drag from light to light. I'm guessing heat related? Also I have a worn wheel bearing on the left side, and needs replacement along with a hub and seal. Anyone belive this might be an issue with the cracked pads? Also any suggestions for high quality brake pads?
Cracked Brake Pads, any others? - 6G Celicas Forums
I would say invest in some quality ones, i mean the do stop you an all... That and if there cracking an thats the second time, def dont get the same ones...
I keep cracking the pads on my 3000GT. I just bought some ceramic ones. Hopefully those will last alittle longer >

Just pulled my pads last weekend, they were toyota pads and I found them cracked too, (left front), the pad was still halfway full and should have been nowhere near done, but had to be replaced. My dad made the driving style comment about braking too, but I dont think Im too hard on the brakes. It may be time to look into some performance ones for next time around.
I know for my bimmer i got some performance ones, an then were sweet, i would brake hard as ****, all the time, an bigger heavy car, 3200... pads were still perfect
Yah, it should be almost impossible to hurt a good pad on the street. Our Touring cars are 2700lbs and they're really not even that hard on brakes at Road America where there are a couple 140mph+ braking zones. I would just suggest some good pads:
Hawk
Pagid
Carbotech
etc.

etc.
So anyone have any recommedations? Brand or part #.
