Ever since i saw those doors on sound slut's car, i find it difficult to sleep at night. Does anybody knows if any company provides a bolt on system for the 6gc?
Decah provides such as system for the 7 gen Celi and it looks absolutely amazing. In the gallery section of the above site you can check some pics out of a yellow 7 gen with lambo doors. (pics 28-36)

i'v done search like 100 times on this, and came up on only one thing....... C U S T O M!! Ask sound_slut, he done this custom, mooding fiero lambo dors kit.

I gave up that idea, cuz it is not that practical to use it everyday, and i gave that path already, now, im more in JDM look and performance.... So..... Thats all i can say.

I've said this on the uk site and i think i'll be flamed but tbh i don't think lambo doors suit the curves of the Gen6.. on the 7 then hell it looks great.. if money was no object then that would be one of the top mods on my list..

I'd be interested in purchasing a kit if one were available, sadly it seems the only way to do it is to go custom, like soundslut. Talk to him about it if you want details, I asked him all about it a while back, and he was very giving with information. Seems 2 me though that he said he had an uncle (?) or someone who had a shop who did the work for real cheap or nothing: and it was a lot of work i believe. So if you wanna do this your gonna end up paying a bundle if your not in the same situation. I think it looks awesome on anyway, just look at his if you dont believe me!

lambo doors are something that is pretty easy to do custom. If you search the web there are PLENTY of how too's on doing it.

Basically you will need "U" shaped hinges like off of a chevy astro van rear doors. and a couple gas shocks.

you need to take the fender off and cut down and reweild the hinge a little. but you basically need to mount the hinge at a 45 Degree angle. its a little tricky to do right and alot of thought will go along way. Once the hinge is mounted you need to figure out where you want your gas shocks to be.. there are a couple differnt ways you can mount them. once those are in place you just need to lenghten your wiring harness to the door and its all done.

I can supply a more detailed how to if I have to but that is the jist of it.

as for a decah kit.. dont waste your money. Just go to a junk yard and get everything for cheap.

also keep in mind that alot of people are starting to do this.. I have kicked the idea around for about a year now and am still undesided if I wanna do it or not >>

RRRRIGHT sounds eazy... not

that's where the Decah one is good in that it doesn't require welding or major hacks to the body or chassis (apart from removing the wings to fit the hinges). As such if you need to revert it back to stock to sell it then you just have the labour time to refit the original hinges.

yea that is one advantage to the decah kit.. but last time I checked it was around 1700 or so for one... thats alot to pay for 150 worth of parts

edit: that and if you at the point to where your thinkin about putting on lambo doors.. odds are that you car will never return to stock even if you sell it

that how to seam pretty simple ... there are alot harder installs people do everyday..

From what I've heard, the Civic kit from Decah is pretty much universal and is recommended for most cars they don't make a specific kit for >>.

anyone know where to find more pics of the hinges and how they work? im thinking that cant be to hard to do with a little creativity

well helping my cousin look for car parts last week (ebay >> ) i saw one of those civic kits go for 200 bucks....

maybe someone on here would look and try out a civic kit and see if that works to ... cause we all already know the intake works... just a thought

i'd try if I could get a kit for 200.. thats a pretty fair price for stuff brand new.. even though you can still get it for cheaper from a junk yard.. expessially if its for a civic.. if It dont work i'll just put it on my girls car >>

I got experience with some custom installs and actually got a set of decahs for my 6th generation. there made for a civic, and the 700 dollar asking price on ebay saved me about 500. Some points about the hinges. The shape is very important, as we found out the hard way. Second van hinges dont work, and the guys who have used these type of hinges....well their cars look like s&^%t.
The hinges are interesting because anything that extrudes(brackets,etc) are pressed in, then welded on. This means that alot of early kits snapped parts. All the welds are beveled prior. So strength here is a major concern. I personally think it would be east to make a set for celica 6th gens. Ill use my car as a guinea pig, but it wont be till april/may due to time restraints. Placement of the hinge is critical also....we found that out the hardway. Doors worked great, but hit the fender, after fender intall. We had to do them over.
The latches have 2 hinges. One hinges the door out(like a house door hinge), 2nd one is a round hinge that pivots. You might be able to use a stainless steel thick bolt for this. I more then likely will film the process with my camera. If anybody is interested in a set, let me know. One advantage we have, is that both the door hinge and body hinge bolt on. On the z24s, we had to cut the latches off since they were welded on.

Ive heard bad thing s about the auto loc kit. I personally dont have and experience with them. One kit that I dont recommend and alot of people have bought for 500 is the street dreams kit. Its made for a lambo kit car. It mounts horizontal, while are latches are vertical. So many kids have been ripped off from this kit due to their advertising
