Preparing for my SuperCharge - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #10157 22 posts Started by sapperk
I need some sugestions. I am going to get the Rip SuperCharger System. But what do you think i should do to my engine internally first. I am already going to get new seals, and pistons, what else do you think i should do. Also questions on intercooler. Does anyone have one, if so i want a front mount, i need one to fit with my veilside front bumper. what size and where to get it?
I would say look for some new perfomance cam's also lightened fly wheel lightened valve springs and new seals... i dont know what they offer for the engine but those should be some good things to get an help the power.
i would head over to celica.net theres a guy over there i believe his s/n is shook
he has the ripp charger, so im sure he could help you out...or just ask ross himself, he'd prolly know better than anyone what you'll need

Hey, congrats on looking into the supercharger man. >wink.gif> Keep us all updated about how everything works out and dont be afraid to go that route....it looks and sounds like its an extremely well made system, and will be a really reliable upgrade im sure. I would get one too if i didnt have to spend money to fix the body of my car first. >rolleyes.gif>

EDIT- But pertaining to what you should upgrade before the supercharger goes on....ive read that the 5S-FE has a weak valvetrain, so i would either upgrade if possible or just replace valve springs and seals, etc. with new stock ones. Also, forged or high compression pistons and a metal head gasket would help secure the internals a little better, then throw in a lightened flywheel and racing clutch to help handle the extra power.
Then of course just make sure that the engine is running well to begin with before the supercharger goes on, with some fresh spark plugs, wires, and i would even put in some Royal Purple oil with a K&N filter, and some Redline Water Wetter into your coolant so nothing overheats. Sorry for the big list, but thats just exactly what i would do if i were you. After that, you should be more or less set to go. >smile.gif>

3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting.
i don't think you should get high compression pistons, but forged would be a good idea. check out raceeng.com, they have forged pistons and connecting rods for your engine. also check out importperformanceparts.net, they have great prices on piston/rod combos.

good luck.
Go forged....i stand corrected after doing a little reading. >wink.gif> Thanks for covering for me, DustyBurns.

cool great input, so am i the first for this supercharge kit. it wont be started for another 6 months due to me being stationed in Korea, but i will keep informed. im gonna go with all new internals plus a port and polish job.
i wouldnt go crazy wih upgrading stuff. if it aint broke, dont fix it.

there is one guy on the net who did a great job at doing a custom turbo setup on his 5sfe camry. he got forged pistons and everything. the pistons ended up being more trouble then they are worth and his advice at the end of his project was not to get them.

if you really want to know what you should do, just email the ripp guys.

i can't imagine that the pistons themselves would cause a problem, he probably just messed up installing them or didn't follow a break-in procedure.

from what i have read it's not a real good idea to push stock engines. i think it is a great idea to rebuild your engine in preperation for the supercharger.

15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
This is the engine i just ordered it tonight.

FlatlandRacing

I think this is a great deal, then i will add a few more mods, and be ready to roll. my goal is to produce up to 300hp out of my 5sfe.
that's a good idea dude, but are you sure you want such a high CR for running boost??
I don't think 5SFE can be prowered to300HP
yeah dude i think you are going to want different pistons with a lower compression ration...you should call the company and see if they will install them.
i got the engined ordered and its on the way. yes it has forged pistons. it is also ported and polished. The engine itself is now supercharged ready. I am also going ahead with a sparco intercooler, a performace radiator, new fans, and also a oil cooler. Because maybe its just me but the 6gen celica seems to run real hot. So lets do some wuick math..

FlatLandRacingEngine - 155hp
Port & Polished aprox - 20hp
Rip Mods SuperCharge - 95hp
Intercooler/ new rad / oil cooler - 20hp
Exaust System - 5hp

Total Horses = 295

Im sure my numbers arent exact but pretty close i think;
That also not including the new ignition w/ all wires, reprogrammed computer and all the other little 1 or 2 hp add ons....

what do you think, but can the tranny hold up. i think so. i think the tranny can hold well over 300hp.

so like what else r u saying i need done, RippMods ran theirs at 10psi. thats where i got my numbers, in a 5SFE
see thats the whole thing im staying away from.. i what to keep it as a 5sfe, i think it should handle just fine.. what are the differences in the head anyway.. it can be that much,, a head is a head. its the rest of it that counts...
