I had just gotten home from flordia tonite and decided to take my celi out for a quick spin around the block.....just because i missed her. as im driving my the check engine light turns on.... >> but i notice no difference in the drive of the car at all. but i decide to hurry home just incase. well i travel about 2 more miles home and then im shiftin into 3rd not really pushing it then my car gos from a rumble to a BLAHHHHHH!!!!! and i notice everthing starting to rattle really bad. At that point the trany is slipping really really bad i cant get any power to the ground so i shift into second and its a little better. so at this point i really wanna get my car home and fast.!!! but i have to make it up this one hill the next neiborhood over from me and i know its going to be rough. i hit the hill at about 35 and about halfway up the hill my rear view mirror just lights up like a the grizwald faimly christmas with flames and sparks and everything nice. And we are not talkin any small little puffs. i mean this just lit up the road both lanes and all. so at that point i decide to stop. and give up on trying to make it home. i drifted down the hill and put my car in front of someones house and call my dad to come and pick me up. And hell yea did i get yelled at for about an hour how i should have never put this exhaust on my car and this and that and this and that...when he has a WRX STI with no cat's and 3 inch pipe from the turbo back. and lots of other mods that put it up to about 350 hp. I hate hipocrates. >> has anyone else had this problem with there celica? my engine?, my exhaust?, or my Trans? please anyone help me out it would make me sleep easier tonite. also would runnin without a cat make the car get all f-ed up like that because about 2 weeks ago DG made me that catless test pipe but up untill now its been runing great.

just bad luck, none of those mods change anything within the car to make it do that.

Mostly just a hell of alot of sparks really......But see every time i start it back up or try for that matter it sounds like not all the pistons are turnin over and i thought that if it where the transmission the engine would still run fine right? >>

im sure sompthigns wrong iwth the exhaust.....but when i look under the car there is not haning pipes or anything ..... >> GOD I WISH IT WAS DAY TIME AND NOT SNOWING SO I COULD KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON

well i decided to just wate till the morning and see what happens ....se if it will run better or even start for that matter......my dad seems to think that i threw off the ecu somehow and its not puttin the right mixture in the engine. hell i dont knowand the more it think about it the more i get frusturated!!!

I bet it jumped time, when was the timing belt last replaced?

its never been replaced and i got about 70 on her now ...hell thats a great idea...i would have never thought of that....Thanks

do you know if anyone was driving your car while you were gone?

no one was...my grandmother was stayin at my house while i was away .....thats the only person who had my key.....and i dont think she would have taken my car out...cant drive stick and shes damn near 80 i dont think she could fit into it!..lol

How long did your car sit and where there ne major temp changes during that time? also how hard where you drivin it before you started home? not when you had probs but before that?

was not driveing it to hard at all really....just kinda crusing...only sat for 4 days...at the shop now ...im let u guys know what happened when i get the final word...hopefully it is only the timeing belt ...so far thats what he thinks.....

if it was the timing belt, it might have broken causing quite a few problem....

almost sounds like you lost a gear IF you went from 3rd which had no power to 2nd which seemed to have power

yes, a car will run w/o an exhaust hooked up... it's called open header... no cat is fine as well....

if you had sparks or flames.... something obviously broke and it's more than just the timing belt.....

My engine blew up a while back. Ah, I remember it like it was the other day. Doing the speed limit for once and all of a sudden I heard a clank, clank, so I slowed down then it didn't do it for like a mile so I start to speed back up to 60 then I hear a nice snap, crackle, pop and I ain't talking about no rice crispies either, oh that was followed by a nice boom, and a plume of white smoke belching from my exhaust and from beneath my hood, and a smell like burning Celica internals. Pull off the road and get screwed outta my car for like 2 weeks. Whee.

Man, our cars are like driving time bombs or something. Who knows... maybe its a Toyota conspiracy to erase our 6 gens from the world so they can recreate them as the 8th gen...

im just keeping my fingers crossed that its nothing worse then a timing belt.....but in the back of my mind my consience wispers faintly ....3sgte!!!!...... >>

if the timing belt breaks there is a high chance that some of your valves are messed up also.

GOOD NEWS!!! turned out it was only my distributor going up which caused it to missfire like a mo fo and shooot flames and stuff. so it getting replaced today and i should have my car back tonite!!!!....$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
