in the past week I started my car and then it just dies. I don't think its the starter because it turns. The engine goes then the rpms goes form 2 down to close to 0 then dies. The engine lasts 1 second then that's it.

I start it again, press on the gas and try to keep it between 3 & 4 (rpms) and after a few minutes I can drive.
I have a '99 and I've had to warm up cars before but they were over ten or 15 years old.

any ideas? I'm thinking of taking it in but I'd like to know before hand what it could be.

it happen only twice last week, and now its fine. But still worried. what do think it could be?
that happend to me once because of air in the gas line. it went away after a little bit and a new tank of gas.

heres some possible problems...

- Loose or faulty electrical connections at distributor, coil or alternator.

- Insufficient fuel reaching the injectors.

- Vacuum leak at the gasket between the intake manifold and throttle body.
when was the last time you had your fuel filter changed?
if that clogs, your screwed.

you know what, I don't remember. It must be awhile then. How often should I change the fuel filter?
i never thought about my fuel filter until my car started to studder and then i changed it and the car ran much smoother. I don't think the previous owner had ever changed it. I would try that its cheap and easy.

On average, with fuel injection, you should change your filter every 2 years or 24,000 mile, whichever comes first.

you should also get a fuel injection performance tune up. It will get all the carbon and other crap out of the intake and valves etc...

either its just bad gas or its the fuel filter... that same thing just happened to my moms 98 bonivelle ssei and it took forever for the dealer to fix it

99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =)
