new intake for those of us with the vader - 6G Celicas Forums

ok i don't have much time to right this up but i'll give the major idea.

first remove driver side fender and all that stock airbox stuff that sits in there to free up space

your run your intake pipe down to the bottom of the engine bay (exactly like a "DR. CAI" but you cut down the plastic protector thing which leads to inside your fender. you then run the piping through there and into the fender which leads straight to the driver sideside opening in our vader front bumper.

so already your sucking massive cold air in through that opening, so this way it flows straight to your air filter. NOW take that and make a box to fit snuggly around the airfilter and that will snuggly attach to the back of the bumper to seal it
this way ALL of the air going into the gap will be forced into your intake

COLD AIR+ "FORCED" into intake manifold+ (fast=more pressure)= more horseys

so i guess you can call this a "RAM" air induction i'll write up more on this tomorrow with some pics maybe

But hes not talking about hot air intake like everyone has, wouldnt a ram air intake be alot more effective?
you know our motors do not respond to intake in any form( to the point of "damn that really works ")

No your mom is my bitch as long as I'm aloud to have bitches. If I'm not aloud bitches then I'll just use the term hoes and in that case I will make the world my hoe... Including your mom. >wink.gif>

Dude this idea has only been posted like 40 times already. Try searching the forums before you just post something.

Kudos for the thought process, but it's not exactly an original idea.
^^^ So does that make him your bitch?

Ok, Ok, I'll stop. I'm sorry.....

HAHA sure i could always take more on...LOL ok i'm done
Whoa... for a second there... I thought I was in OT.
Anyway.....

Putting a box around the filter will not give you any ram effect. The airflow through the radiator inlet just isn't sufficient. Properly designing an operating ram air setup is very difficult. It will only work if installed to breathe from the highest pressure areas in the front of the car. This can only be determined through areodynamic analysis and testing.

I've never dynoed an intake on a 5s but I can't speak for the 7a. My intake produces a max gain of 10hp at about 4500rpm and just over 3hp and the peak (around 5600rpm). Torque gains are 10+ throughout the power band and a max of 13ft-lbs. I'd hardly call that nothing.
well its not through the radiator inlet. its the inlet on the right... it just leads to the wheel well and the bumper light sits in there. so if you seal that off with a box and your intake runs into that box you figure drivin down the highway at anywere from 55mph+ your pushing a hecka air through there at some decent psi. this is just the way i'm lookin at it. but what your presenting speedtoe is good point. thanks for your imput any further imput would be great. help on this would be appreciative too (idea help that is)
