Brake pads - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #10899 9 posts Started by Cragspider
Ok, my brakes are shot. I need new pads. I was thinking of getting the TRD pads. But what are some other good pads that aren't to expensive. Also any pros or cons over ceramic and organic pads?

I GOT WAGNER THERMO QUIET PADS AND THE WORK GREAT
I am also wondering what to get, my brakes are shot
i've heard EBC Green stuff works well and doesn't have much stuff
the Red Stuff is better, but takes longer to get warm and work well...

I might have EBC on the rear, but i dunno since i didn't put em in.
i ASKED for them, and they said they didn't have em, and then put on regular "toyota" ones, but they're GREEN :-P so i dunno
The green stuff pads are really overkill for the street. I use performance friction carbon metallic pads on the street and hawks on the track (compound depends on the track). The performance frictions are really cheap and they're a really really good all around pad. They can take a lot of heat and abuse, they wear nicely, and they're rotor friendly.
i'm getting green stuff pads in a lil bit >biggrin.gif>
I haven't had a single complaint about the OEM pads. I think they are pretty darn good as far as OE pads go. I don't really see a need to upgrade them unless you have had some problem with them. Remember, a lot of the performance pads out there work good once they are warm, but don't grab all that well until after a few stops. Couple that with the often quoted statistic of 'most accidents occur within a 5 mile radius of the home'... >frown.gif> Unless you are doing some track lapping, I don't think its all that necessary to change. I don't even have a problem with the OE pads dusting badly. *shrug*
I had TRD pads for a while. They were nice as far as being fade resistant(sp?), but they made a lot of noise if they were cold.
Right now I just have $30 Autozone(store, not brand) pads. They don't squeak and they don't fade too badly. I wouldn't use them for racing, but they're perfectly fine for daily driving and a little 'spirited' driving.
well I got some ceramic pads from o'relieys. I asked them for the pads you told me about speedtoe but they didn't have them or were just stupid.
