i bought Tein S-tech lowering springs, im now thinking should i change the shocks as well... how do i know if the shocks are bad and need replacement?
how to know shocks are bad?? - 6G Celicas Forums
I have a 94 and I just replaced mine. They were probably bad for at least a year before I got around to it. I noticed a lot of "body roll" when going around corners. It's much tighter now that I've swapped them. Hell, if you're going to all the trouble to take them apart, I'd just do it anyways, even if you're not sure. KYBs will only cost you around 250 shipped from Tire Rack.
bounce the front or rear of the car up and down. if it keeps bouncing your shocks are bad. if it dampens quickly they are more than likely okay.
when u take them off look to see if they are leaking or if you compress them and they dont come back up then they are bad.

If they are busted they can........i'm just assuming.
A new strut is kind of hard to compress but it can still be pushed down some by hand... Wore out ones are very easy to press down and they wont come back up.
hmm... my car didt bounce up and down alot when i go over some bump or uneven road. do they make any sound when they r bad? coz i notice when i go over some "uneven" road surface, it makes some "klok klok" sound from the back...
do the bounce test.. stand net to the tire and pust down it the cause just pops up and doesnt move at all your good.. it it goes up then down again.. time for new struts... do this at each wheel.

i just replaced my rear struts...i am getting clunking from the rear so i figured i would need new ones because they are stock with 156k. Well, one of the rear ones was totally shot, the other had alittle life left in it. Anyways, i still have some clunking. Im pretty sure its the sway bar bushings. I will get them on this weekend and see.
what is a sway bar?
its a rear stablelizer bar..its supports the rear struts and allows the car to handle better
Have they been replaced? If not, replace them. If they're not bad now, they'll be bad soon.
When you unscrew the inserts and they bleed all over you, you'll be convinced.
