hey everyone i've been reading these posts for a while and never really had to post anything, cause most of my question have been answered about the 3sgte swap. except for one.
i see that my stock gt tranny will crush with a 3gen swap and i can use the camry v6 and mr2 turbo trannies. but can i use the stock gt-four tranny with a locked diff?
if so what other parts might i need?
Its rummored that it can be done but there are tons of posts that recommend against it - especially on celica.net.

I just finished my swap, no tranny problems what so ever
you used the stock gt4 tranny????

im plannin on puttin a 3s-gte engine in my 94 st. the engine comes witha n all wheel drive tranny. since the transmission comes witht the engine i would imagine it would hold up to the power correct? also this transmission is an all wheel drive my car is only fornt wheel is this a prob? i also am looking to buy gt motor mounts to install the 3s-gte engine anyone know wher i can pick some gt mounts up?
I thought that if you got an awd tranny that it would do no good since 6gens arnt awd so you might as well sell it for money and get a different tranny for the swap?
Bottom line: Can you get a(n) gt4/all-trac transmission to work in a fwd configuration? Yes. Should you? No.
actually the GT four tranny would NOT FIT AT ALL, the transfer box is non removable and would hence be in the way of the firewall.
so it wouldn't be possible to covert to 4wd if ever? i' ve been told the the chassis is the same?
ehh, I was wrong... but the exhaust would probably need to be rerouted.
