Hi to all of you in this Forum!
I am posting this question to resolve a little, little indeed, question I've in my mind since I bought my Celica GT 2.0 6th G.
Does someone who is reading this post of mine, know where come the name CELICA from?
Is it the name of a deity? Or the name of the Toyota CEO daughter ? or a fantasy name? or something else ?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
And, of course, sorry for my bad English.
giorgio

What does it mean?
Celica: The name is derived from the Spanish word for "heavenly" or "celestial". - Toyota.com

Yes technically you can translate it to celestial or heavenly however thats not where it comes from.
Celica is the name of a mythical dragon some witch rode when she did, whatever she did. Thats why when you see earlier symbols, they are dragons.

well, now we know what celica means. but why was it given this name? Did they just pick a word from the dictionary with a nice meaning, or did something inspire someone to use celica?
Yes, you're right. That name doesn't really exist in Spanish or so.
A member of an italian forum, who has married a spanish, already told me tha same thing.
But the sound of the word Celica recalls an italian or spanish word, so we are thinking that Celic has spanish ( or Italian) roots.
Thanks for your conribution.
Have a nice day.
I see You'are online at this moment.

Well I dont think its really Celica. I think its like Cereeka or Sareeka. Its pronounced differently in Japan.
A name is a name tho...not sure why.

Yes, you're right.
IMHO all the car factories planted in Japan, and Korea like to use italian (spanish comes from latin :-) ) Daewoo : Lacetti, Toyota : Celica, Carina, Paseo , and so on.
Thanks for your reply
