Top Fuel Turbo Conversion - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #11177 19 posts Started by khye
Looking at the parts database, I see the Top Fuel Turbo Conversion listed for the ST202 3SGE, which is what I have.

I desperately want this kit and have the cash waiting, does anyone have a link to where I can get it?
Preferably in Europe but if not just anywhere that stocks it!

I've been trying for the last few weeks and nobody has heard of it.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

I notice that theres no intercooler with the kit or boost guages.

Anyone know what I can do with this, the kit comes with everything needed to get the car turbo'd, but I assume that I will be needing to get some control over the boost.

Any suggestions?

Cool...well thats the intercooler sorted.
A few more questions though....

Where does this attach to the turbo kit?
What is it actually cooling?
And what about controlling the boost?

Thanks! >wink.gif>

LOL....I wouldn't even trust myself to change a sparkplug m8.

I dunno really....I'd imagine that its not as straight forward as they are saying it is.

I mean surely the engine internals will have to be uprated and the ECU will have to be remapped?

Can't just be a simple bolt on Turbo.

Anyone have it fitted?????
I got a reply from those suppliers and they were not very helpful in their answer.

I asked what parts come in the Kit.
He said "The parts that come in the kit are in the photo"
I got no listing of parts from him so I dont really know what to think.

The kit says comes with "ALL" the necesary parts needed.

Its doesnt include an intercooler so their statement is not correct at all.

No mention of the fact that you will have to uprate most of your internals to cope with the extra stress either.

I really want to get this kit but its starting to sound like too much trouble and not a simple "bolt on" kit like they are advertising it as.

Has anyone here managed to fit this to their car and if so can you tell me if it is as straight forward as they claim?

Any help would be appreciated!!!!!! >confused.gif> >confused.gif>
mate theres no such thing as a 'bolt on' kit.
unless ur a mechanic then its much more advisable to buy a car standard with a turbo. with so many st205;s just over in ngland u could ship one over easily, unless ur insurance is like northern ireland that is !!!

But whats the point of producing a product thats made specifically for the 3SGE if its not going to work with it?

I mean if I wanted a GT4 I'd go out and buy one.
Can ye people please drop the same old line.....GT4 GT4 GT4....

They are selling this under the name of a ST202 3SGE Bolt on Turbo Kit.
For the 3SGE......!!!

I just want to know if someone has it installed on their na ST202 and if so what modifications they needed to do.

The sales people I've been talking to there are useless!

I know what you are saying though, we have a GT4 at home too but I'm only interested in the GT for the time being m8. >wink.gif>

If you are only going to run low boost with this kit (i.e. 5psi) you dont really need an intercooler, it is only HIGHLY recommended. Along the same lines, if you run low boost, you dont need to upgrade internals. What this kit gives you is the ability to put boost into your car. Now how much and if its reliable is a different story.

Its Orville's Celica, i just drive it...

Thanks everyone I appreciate it.

I Dont mean to sound sarcastic in my previous thread, just that I have been on the phone to a guy in japan talking about the kit all day long and he does not seem to know anything about it. (What's worse is that he is the salesman >confused.gif> )

I have a custom intercooler manufacturer pretty close to my home town so that should not be a problem once the time comes >wink.gif>

I'm after ordering it anyway...I have a 30 day return term arranged with the guy.

Just to be on the safe side though, I'm going to be putting on a metal headgasket and probolts to hold it all together.

The boost should be pretty low, but enough to make a nice difference hopefully.

I asked him what power gains the Display Celica they have in the shop has been measured at and he said 50-80ps (Whats PS??)
So that just confused me even more I was looking for a bhp/hp figure.

Anyway thanks, I'll let you know how it works out.
The buddie has a 1998 Celica ST202 same as mine and he just fitted a Rotrex Supercharger to it...hes getting 230bhp from it now but he did uprate the internals as well as fitting a piggyback ECU.

the 3SGE is a very strong engine...you shouldn't ahve problems running 7psi intercooled.
