I've never raced a neon but are they faster than a 6gc? Everyone keeps trying to tell me they are, I'm not talking about the turbo'd one. Just a plain old neon.

they have the same motor as the non-turbo talon. they can move, but i'd say in that race, it'd be all about the drivers.

Isn't the talon engine the same as the eclipse engine?
lol I never knew the eclipse/talon shared the neon 2.0l dohc. and to answer your question. yes our st's will more than likely lose to any neon, but we might have a chance against the sohc models >

Torque Peak: 129 ft/lb @ 5000 rpm
Redline: 6500 rpm
DOHC(found in sport, acr, r/t, highline):
HP Peak: 150 hp @ 6500 rpm
Torque Peak: 133 ft/lb @ 5600 rpm
Redline: 7000 rpm

I've raced my friends 95 neon many times and I beet him by anywhere from 2-5 car lengths. And I have an ST!! >>

i had the SOHC version and bojangles GT blew me away , both autos
as far as neons go id say any stick could give a celica a go, except mabey the base neon vs a GT stick... My parents had a 96 highline stick, and for a sh*tbox it was pretty quick...

My girlfriend has an auto 2001 Plymouth Neon, and that thing can haul some ass. Its maybe only marginally quicker than my GT though, but its hard to tell cuz of the totally different nature of the two cars. But it climbed from 0-60 pretty damn quick with not much effort when i drove it, so yea....Thats my experience comparing the two.

Yesterday I was driving and I got next to this guy in a Neon SRT-4. We talked for a minute, and he'd seen my car and knew it had a swap, and told me to take off from second gear while we were moving. I pulled away for a second while he maintained his speed, and then he downshifted and pulled so hard on me. It was crazy how fast that thing was, and it was basically stock except for some sort of an intake and exhaust.
New Toyota project coming soon...
the great thing about srt4 is you can put a stage 3 turbo on their and keep the warrenty

I have heard, that the newer SRT neons (any SRT-4) can run crazy amounts of boost, and that people are doing some pretty insane times with them. As far as beating regular neons go, it's all up to the driver & a little bit of luck.
Also I believe that most neons came with an automatic trans, correct me if i'm wrong, but that also would have something to do with it.
