Amp Mounting Location - 6G Celicas Forums

Where should I mount an aftermarket amp?

I'd perfer keeping the amp out of sight. Most amps won't fit nicely under the seats. If you put it in the truck, how did you mount it?

Thanks!

I Keep it Real. but you shouldent have a problem under the seats, that Pioneer fit easly under the seat, just gotta remember to have the seat back so its not seen.

Yay for professional installation! (mine. hehe)
a custom amp rack is the way to because a properly installed amp can add alot to the interior of the car

under my driver side seat >smile.gif>
mine is there as well, keeps everything really clean. its a pretty tight fit, but you cant tell its there unless you listen for or feel the fan i installed as well >biggrin.gif>
Mine's on the back of my seat too and sits behind my sub well.

Thanks for the replies. The pictures are great. Anymore?
I guess its what is really to your taste, you have to take alot of things into mind also, if you want to show it all off, if you want to make it less-steal-able, and cooling. For the average person just mounting it to the back of the seat, or under the seats is a good Ideer, But if you like to show off, and enter shows and so forth it would be in your best intrest to make something 1off. If you were to mount under the seats or on the back, I would Run a relay setup that came on with your amp, and add some resistors so you dont get humming, because a Hot amp will useally be a dead amp. heres something I was throwing around with a friend of mine for his HB. Just replaces the top deck, A Amp, Distro Block, Cap, 1 12" Sub, and Under Glow Neon. Showie yet still having cargo room.

How would a relay stop humming? What causes the humming? Too much heat? Thanks.
It wouldent be the relay humming, The Relay is gonna click everytime it goes on and off, but thats with-standalble knowing that your amp isnt gonna be toast. I would add some resistors between the +12v coming off the relay to the fan, because even tho the fan is rated at 12v's when I had mine hooked up the Hummed because all the power, just throw in 50ohm resistor and should stop that.

I used a 12volt fan as well, and the only thing i hear is the fan running, and the stereo volume has to be at 0, the car off, and no other outside noises. but i like having it under my seat... very clean, takes up no extra space, and if i want to show it off i just turn up the bass >biggrin.gif>
I sat in my back seat, an amp that is 12 x 10" will fit, but there is only just enough room to put my feet down. But then, I didn't buy the Celica so I could cart around passengers.
hopefully this summer I'm gonna finish my system and make it pretty. i'm planning on recessing both amps into the back seats and building fiber glass enclosures to fit behind the rear wheel wells.

I made a wooden board cut to shape to fit behind the rear seats.
Practical as I can still use the trunk.
It can easily be removed as well.
See my Profile for a picture.

One on the back of the seats, one mounted on the back of the sub box itself.

Works great for me, the subs fit well in the trunk, and still hauled around a family's week worth of groceries with my dad using the trunk and the back seats.
