Headers Anybody? *Updated!* - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #11683 110 posts Started by spunky393
Hello everybody,
I know it probably says i'm a new member, I actually couldn't remember my sign in name, meaning there was no way I could get my password. So, here I am, spunky393. Anyways, to the point. I live in Quincy Illinois, right across the river from West Quincy, Missouri. A new-found friend of mine, Shawn Lile (one of the greatest genious and talented people i've ever met dealing with cars), and we were talking one day at his new shop in West Quincy. He was talking to me about how he wished more cars with potential would come to his shop (don't get me wrong, he has more than enough cars to work on already, he famous!). He then looked over at my white, '98 Toyo Celica GT, and said "now that car has some potential." That's where I quickly corrected him, telling him no one makes anything, at least I thought I was correcting him. Here's the kicker, If enough people on this wonderful 6th Generation Celica site want fully working headers and COLD air intakes, I would be glad to give my car up for the time he needs. Just give me feed back, PLEASE and thanks.

im sure if someone came up with a decently designed header for the 5sfe for our cars, he'd have a line of people waiting...

Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)13.6@108MPH, 5SFTE Powered
i'd automatically be in for a header >biggrin.gif> .
A header is definately something on the 'NEED' list of the celica community.. specifically the GT users, most people just go custom because of the severe lack of aftermarket for our cars.
we already have cai, those are everywhere but we really need a header for the gt. it would be nice if you could get rid of the cat while you were at it. or at least have the option
It's me again. You guys are really helping me out here, haha. For anybody wondering, the COLD air and headers would only be for the GT.

And, if you mean getting rid of the converter that is built right into the stock factory headers, yes. If you mean driving around without any converter at all, that's just a bad idea. It turns out our 2.2 5S-FE engine can't run without having a little back pressure. So, a little turbo converter (built in the exaust pipingof course) and the nice turbo flow muff, that turns out to be the perfect or somewhat perfect backpressure combo.

Hey Sinner, i just read your details, is it a true ST? or do you have the 2.2 under the hood?

The problem with the MR-2 headers for the 5S-FE (hotshot makes them), is the angle of our engine. It's about 40 degrees back (if i remember right) meaning attaching the mr-2 headers would cause the "out" part of the headers to point nearly towards the ground.

One quick question, would you guys want the stuff shipped to you from his shop if you indeed bought his finished product, or how does that work on here?

The most important lesson I learned from Karate-Dô Kyôshan–“You can not be what you do not believe you are”
i would be down for a header and , there are not cai all over , there are short rams which are still under the hood and a cai are for say in the fender liek mine
Well, if anybody is curious about the cold air intake, he'll design it to more than likely go under the battery tray, and somehow get it in front of the radiator, meaning little to no chance of getting in a puddle (inless you drive into a lake) and the freshest blast of cold air.

Header for sure, and maybe some ram-air type fresh air system.
oh i'd be inline for header, right away.
ok what type of finish would these headers have? and what will they coast and how long would we have to wait to get them?

[TeamNJCT
I'll try to get that info to you people about both products (Headers and Cold Air) as soon as I can, hopefully by tonight. I'm praying that i'm not going to have any problems getting this done. Just keep on giving me your questions and opinions. Thanks.

The most important lesson I learned from Karate-Dô Kyôshan–“You can not be what you do not believe you are”
Id be down for both MOST DEFINITELY....depending on price, and final products, but if everything is fair, count me in, and id be down to pay for shipping it to my house...im getting all chatty like a school girl >biggrin.gif>
dont mean to thread hijack but why doesnt someone work out a groub buy for headers?
[COLOR=blue][SIZE=7][FONT=Arial][B] >rolleyes.gif> headers is something that has been on my mind for a long time now. I am down to get some headers no matter what it takes!!!! just as long as they perform and have a nice finish.
Thanks everybody for helping out. Lets not set up a group buy yet, we don't even have the headers made. Let me take care of it when we get to that, but thanks for the offer. Hopefully, my next message will consist of material types, and what type of headers, this is a long process to build headers, so everyone keep given their input, keep telling their celica gt friends, and keep their cool. THANKS.

Ok, here we go everybody.

Headers: Steel obviously, maybe coated by jet, maybe we'll do something our selves that will be and look just as good and won't cost near as much. Don't know how large the piping or anything like that yet... But will have a prototype in 30 days, will bring pictures on and off my car. estimated price - 450-500

Cold air: Probably steel, more than likely. Aluminum isn't much lighter and is much harder to bend, and as we all know MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE. Probably the same coating, but coating will be later. Don't have any prices yet. And there isn't much reason to make the piping anybigger than the intake already. So if you want to know the size of the piping, go measure for yourself, haha. I really don't know when that'll be done, but since the front of the car will be torn apart to get the best set of headers we can, we'll probably start building the cold air right then and there. We may have to go on to pre-orders so we can get a mendral bending machine, meaning faster for us, easier for us, cheaper for you.

Please give me your opinions, and i'll check back soon.

So Spunky393
When do ur frd can finish these both products??
I really wanna see the pics first, but I think I have to down anyway!!
Plz send us the products' pics first!!
Thx a lot
Sounds cool...I have no use for an aftermarket header for either a ST or a GT, but I'd like to see more people with headers on their cars. >smile.gif>

New Toyota project coming soon...
Ok, if it isn't to much trouble, could i have everyone WHO THINK THEY WANT or knows they want one or both of these products, please e-mail me at b_shaw@hotmail.com telling me which item because something is wrong with my keveric989@hotmail.com adress. So once again, b_shaw@hotmail.com

The most important lesson I learned from Karate-Dô Kyôshan–“You can not be what you do not believe you are”
Ya know what, my bad, don't worry about the e-mail. Just reply on here if you want either or both of the products, and i'll take the fact that people who already said they'll go for one means they'll go for it. Thanks Again.
