Rolling my fenders - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #12084 10 posts Started by 98celica3
With my new 18's on, my wheel spacers, and my coil-overs, when i hit a bump my tires rub the lip on my rear fenders. I want to role that little lip, but don't want to bend the fender. How can i do this? i don't want to get rid of the spacers, or raise the car.

Jack the car up and use a baseball bat. Roll the bat with a little pressure, too much pressure will be bad.

When I get back to work, I got a article there on how to do it. I will scan it and send it to you. I believe it also said to heat up the fender with a heat gun so the paint does not chip.

I noticed that in your profile you didn't list any upgrades to your struts. I would suggest getting a some stiffers shocks like koni's. Also the spring rate on the drop zone coilovers is pretty low. You'll bounce a lot, the stiffer suspension will help a lot. To roll your fenders you need to make some cuts every inch on the inside of the fender. Then take a torch and heat it up, do heat it up till its red, just enough so it'll bend easier with out the paint peeling. While the fender is hot, bang it out with a rubber mallet. After you're done, i'd tape up the car and spray the inside of the fender with paint to prevent rust from all the cuts you made.
I just read something earlier today on that. It was about using a baseball bat. I'll see if I can find the article.
in that last shot, the fender looks a little warped.
I just took a saw and made little cuts in the inside of the fender every couple of inches for about 18-20 inches. Then i heated the fender up with a hair dryer and beat it back with a rubber hammer >biggrin.gif> then i of course primed and re-painted it. Looks good and i don't rub anymore.
