Alright, I just want to be sure on how to do this before I go and buy the touch up paint from the dealer. I have a lot of knicks on my hood and a few spots on my car that I want to touch up and blend in w/ the rest of the car. My hood is getting freckles. I have a white car, and just wanted to know how to do touch up? Do I have to sand over the spots I want to touch up??? SHould I wax the car first to see how bad the knicks are??? I don't know, gimme some pointers for touch up. >

Get all the wax off the part that you want to touch up, primer it and then add the touch up on in thin layers, not one big blob. Don't use the brush that comes with the touch up paint. Its better to use the end of a toothpick.

using a fine wet'n'dry, sand off the bump of the touched up paint, be very carefull with this bit, it will sand down easily, and dont scratch any of the normal paint (use a small rubbing block)
Then use an abrasive polish to blend it a bit before giving it a t-cut and polish/wax.

When i have such issues i put masking tape around the touch up paint and wax/polish it until its smooth. The masking tape protects the original paint job.
if your having problems, you should prolly just buy new touch up... i did a couple months ago since my old stuff came from when the car was new and my resuts came out perfect...

I was gonna touch up some spots on my car, but when I took the lid off the paint bottle paint shot all over my car. Had to wet sand it off. >
