Sunroof Question - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #12437 6 posts Started by hermo69
Hey guys...

I hope i can explain this right but here we go.....one of the tabs that hold down the sunroof arms when the sunroof is open has come unattached itself from my roof. So one side gets blown up when I drive on the highway and it causes all kinds of annoying turbulance noise. It seems that it is held to the roof through glue so Im just wondering what kind of glue is good to bond plastic to metal?

two part epoxy....

you buy it and it comes in like this thing that looks like a big seringe with 2 tubes, squeeze some out, mix it together, then you have like 30 secs before it dries.... stuff holds very well...
Ive got the same problem. it looks so goofy sticking up

Mine's been broken for a few years now. It started bugging me so I just put the sunroof visor back on. There is a screw in the one that broke on me, but the plastic around the screw is what broke. It's been glued several times with various glues(including industrial stuff when I was working at a print shop), but it always seems to break again.

I just fixed mine. i dont think that self tapping screws are the way to go, i just went to home deopt and picked up some Stainless 8-32 screws that were 3/4 in thick (you might want to go metric on that) and two stainless fender washers. i had to grind the screws down just a little bit but if you place the fender washer on top of the pastic tab and then screw the screw in to the regular hole with that broken "washer" then it works great.
