lowering my car - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #12476 17 posts Started by 95silvergt
i am tried of coilovers on my car i want springs but i dont know how low to go wit my bodykit and the god knows how many speed bumps out here. any advise would be useful. 1' 1.5' 2' ????? and what brand should i get i dont care to much for the price as long as there quality.
Everyone seeems to like Tein springs. I'm personally putting on itrax and they're supposed to be pretty good.
I just intalled my Tein-s today!! Let me tell you, the ride is great. A LOT better then my GC's. Well I guess the handle was pretty much the same, but I think since I changed my shocks with KYB's the ride feels a lot smoother than OEM.

I'm overall happy with them, not just gotta wait till they settle in more and take more corners a tad harder in order to speed up the settle time. hehe

I'm geeked!! And I got no squeeks/clunks or anything.

I'd definitely recommend these! >smile.gif>
what springs/ strut combo gives the BEST ride quality?
it really is a matter of what YOU consiter "best"...from what i've seen and read on the board...
kyb's are basicly the same as your stock strut/shock, and will run around 2-250 for a set.
konis are adjustable, from soft to firm...with the softest setting being close to stock. theyre more expensive, and need cut 'n welding into the rear strut housing..but if you can afford it..its a sweet way to upgrade..some one who has them can add a price for ya..
as far as springs,...there are a ton of brands out there, and a bunch of diffrent drops...again its all about what you want..and how big your buget is.
the tiens seem to be the hot choice right now, i think therye a 1.5" drop, and from what i've read ride pretty close to stock
intrax are a 1.75 (i think) and are stiffer than stock (tighter handling.. >wink.gif> )
eibach has both a 1"(prokit) and a 1.5"(sportlines) set, both are stiffer than stock, i have had the sportlines for over a yr and a half..and really love them, they are definetly stiffer (great for killin off-on ramps >wink.gif> ) and kill the wheelgap nicely..
there are still a few more too...ie:toms, TRD, dropzone,ect...

Don't forget, Tanabe has two sets of springs made for our cars. one for a low drop, and one for racing\handling.
ok thanx for all the replys but what i am wonderin is how big of a drop should i do. 1.5 more or less. and another thing is i have my bodykit on it to and i have to worry about speed bumps.
If you have coilovers why don't you just play around with the height to get an idea of what you want?

that is exactly what i was looking for...

thanxz sphinx.
Eibach springs are the best IMO. I have the sportlines and love them, they drop my car just enough with 17's. And my car handles great with them.
I have the sportlines too.. an love them.. Im curious though with the df210's is it really a drop of 2-1/2" any pics?? That would be a lil nicer.. My car is low.. but i want a lil lower.. but i guess im not switching now.. fug that
sphinx i hope the 1 pic of ur car in ur profile isnt with them installed... still looks very high to me except for the body kit, im judging by wheel gap
most people usually love what they have. i've been told by a friend not to buy the eibach springs unless they are the ERS springs. he recommended the H&R sports, so thats what i got. 1.4inch front, 1.3 rear. progressive so they are smoother for daily driving, but once you hit the corners, they tighten up.
i dunno...i'm currently using suspension techniques w/ a 1.5" drop, and i like it. and, i think we're from the same area right? you don't wanna go too much lower around here, with all of the super steep driveways and stuff...

but, yeah...Susp. Tech's and KYB shocks/struts make me smile.
