Tweeter install - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #12561 8 posts Started by acenova
Just got a new set of tweeters that a guy on here sent me and I'm curious as to how to wire my tweeters on my car. My car did not come w/ stock tweeters so there is no already made harness nor is there wiring to that section. I can make the harness(or buy one) no problem, but the wiring might be a small problem. Can you guys help me out? Grazi.
Man sometimes you blow my mind, you Know I live like 20min away and I do stereo installs! you know the AIM name.

Wait a tic, you bought a set of tweeters that came out of a celica already? In order to wire those up I believe you have to have a crossover box that will divide the sound into the seperate mid range and treble channels. Other wise I really dont know how you would wire those in because the stock signals would just sound like butt, and probably blow the tweeters. That's as far as I know though correct me if I'm wrong please.

yea buddy you definately need a crossover box to wire those....they aren't to expensive.
Use a holesaw to cut a space for them, and use the flush mounts. buy a bass block off of ebay or your local audio shop, then you can splice into the line. Or you can buy crossover's but decent ones are gonn cost you.
check what kind of tweeters they are, some come with the crossovers built in so all u have to do is connect it to your speaker.

BAHHH!! Crossover nothin. I ran my front two straight off two wires from my HU and the back 2 are run off the same wires as my rear component speakers. They sound great and it was easy as |-|3LL to do. BTW you can get cheap tweeters w/ built in crossover almost anywhere and I've only found a few w/out it. Not saying that yours will have it for sure, but most new ones do if they're 1/2 decent.
