I know I just brought this topic back from the dead but I am still planning on doing this and actually have a front end lined up and all I need is a few hundred more dollars, it has everything but the two grills on the front bumper and the metal piece with the rubber that goes in between the hood and bumper, does anyone know where I can get that piece?
i got all my pieces but the turn signals through local toyota dealership for under 1000, either i am lucky or i've ordered enough parts through them to get a good discount.
My 2p, put on the c-one or the varis front bumper on, it will make your car a lot more aggressive, without making it look like something it isnt., and not many people will have it so youll have the rarity value. Putting a GT4 front end isnt so bad if you have a 3sgte conversion but if youre doing it for looks only then youre just as bad as those honda 'rice boys' that put a 'type r' sticker on the side of their 1.4litre civic

I am planning on doing the 3sgte in the future so it will eventually have the power to back up the looks.

And I am getting everything except the two grilles and rubber things for $800 shipped, and I got a $180 quote for those parts shipped >smile.gif>
Right but until then which will probably take a while youll have a car that looks like a gt4 which has a 0-60 of 9 and is fwd.

Im not having a go at you but using the cumulative definitions people have made on this board that is pure rice.

Its akin to:
Putting a type r sticker on a 1.4 l civic
Putting an evo front on a lancer so it looks like an evo
Putting an sti bonnet on a subaru impreza sport (na)
Putting GT4 raiser blocks on a non-gt4 so at high speed you create drag and downforce to the rear (non-driving) wheels

Dont do it mate really

First of all, go for it man.
Second of all, putting the GT4 front on a USDM Celi isn't rice. The GT4 is the ultimate evolution of the Celica and us poor schmucks in the US never got it. So in order to reach the peak in Celica design we have to go through the trouble of importing the parts and installing them. Ricers just buy parts for models that are already available in the US because they don't want to pony up for the real thing. We can't get the real thing (or it's nearly impossible), so we have to rely on kits and mods to approximate the GT4. For many, including mysef it is the first step toward a swap, or even a full conversion.

I understand your opinion uz but I agree with comadave. I dont think people will think my car to be rice at all when they see that it has gt4 stuff, I think they will like it a lot and aknowledge that is a rarity in the U.S. And not to mention, it just looks hellagood >smile.gif>

Isnt rice doing modifications to your car to make it look faster when its still hella slow?

Regardless of the definition we all dont have access to real gt4's, just like comadave said, so why not try to make it look just as good?
People with GSR's put type R front lips, and side skirts, ect. on their car all the time. And 240's put silvia fronts on their cars too. But then again, i think u have the better engine (3s, or sr20) its no biggy.

go for it, just be very careful when and where you drive, because if your GT4 hood or bumper gets damaged you'll have to go back to your stock hood and bumper.
Ive heard some other things that have to be done when you get the gt4 stuff, like extend your hood latch and cut the bar behind the bumper?

yup you'll need to extend your stock latch about 1/2 inch, and your rebar will basicly need to be cut to half its thickness to fit...

Actually you just need to cut the front corners off the bumper. This picture isn't exact but it's close. I just got a metal-cutting blade for my circular saw to cut it.

And this is what my hoodlatch looks like... I don't remember the exact measurement, I found it here on the board though.
