yea... what paliplaya said.. and what I meant. get a pager alarm and run like a bat outta hell when your keys start to buzz. My buddy has one and we keep in on valet mode. It wont go off until its actually broken into... but the keys will buzz if its brushed or bumped or someone is sticking stuff in the keyholes... etc. This way, if they are just fugging with the car, you can see them and they wont know about it. Like an AutoPage or Compustar.

I have that Toyota securikey alarm with a pin sensor in the hood and on all doors. If my car is jacked up it goes off, if you walk to close to it - it somehow knows and beeps at you twice. It's really a cool alarm - very sensitive - but it makes you carry a very ugly key with alarm remote built in.
Everything has it's drawbacks I suppose.

i found it a wiser choice to buy a good car alarm knowing that only the CD player in my car is worth 3 times that the alarm ...

how do you get the keyhole of the car to have a sensor. The problem i have with car alarms are loud trucks and hot rods, when they drive by my alarm goes off. The proxi sensor i have in my car is too sensitive and keeps going off when there is rain of fog.. does anyone know how to adjust those things?
Go to the supplier and get them to to change the settings of how sensitive the system is.
Hanyo, what alarm do you have? Because I want it. >

UPDATE: I GOT IT BACK.
long story short, the meth-head who i work with IS the one who took it i found out by mentioneing it to him. went to his house told him i was going to return it and id be back with 200 bux for him, he wouldnt let me take it, so i said i would go home and get the money and to meet me at work so I left, called my boss, told him he had to fire this kid be4 work tonight and was trying to decide what to do about the money. (calling the cops was out of the question this kid is a peice of sh!t and would never leave me alone) so my boss says i will lend it to you meet him here. so i show up and hes being arrested for possesion of stolen property. not to mention his beautiful collection of hyperdermic needles in his car. i about killed my boss but in the end i have to thank him, but thanks for the support guys. i will get a shot of my system with this bad boy now. (altho i am returning it and getting a new one because ive decided 3 subs and 3k watts is just unnessesary.)
CupCrazy - valentine one picks up laser. and the chances of a cop shooting you and only you with the laser is very unlikely so it will have time to go off. it has saved my ass many times.

TRY A DUAL STAGE PROXIMITY SENSOR... I GOT THAT IN MY CAR. IT DETERS PEOPLE AWAY. AND IF YOU HAVE AN ALARM...MAKE SURE YOU GET A BACK UP BATTERY. IN CASE THEY TRY TOO CUT YOUR POWER SOURCE. AND A HOOD LOCK. THOSE ARE SOME SECURITY FEATURES I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT.
IT'LL ALSO MAKE YOUR CAR INSURANCE GO DOWN. >

i remember when my car got broken into. Broken window, broken center console, and a stolen cd player. thats what led me to an alarm. Oh, but i got a crap load of money from my insurance. enough for a new window, fix my center console, new cd player, and pay some cash for my rims.

"The pencil-thin beam of the laser gun expands with distance. The actual beam is only several feet wide at 500 feet, but "aiming wobble" introduced by the human holding the bulky gun make the detectable beam at least three times larger. Even without the wobble, it covers most of the roadway after a mile. This means it is actually much easier to find a fragment of the beam at greater distances from the laser trap. At short ranges, the beam may be so concentrated that a detector mounted away from the aim point on the vehicle may not be able to pick up enough stray energy to activate an alarm."
several feet wide? uh... that's definitely a sales pitch.
If you haven't gotten caught yet, that's cool. And if this product makes you feel safer about your chances, then it does what it was designed to do. But I still wouldn't count on it. That was a biased sales pitch, given in such a way that it points out the many ways in which it could "possibly" fail. Not worth the investment in my opinion.
I still think you're better off saving your money for something else... after all, the odds of a cop putting a laser on the car you are driving are extremely low, especially in high traffic areas. Just use your head... if it's an area where it's easy to speed, and you know the odds of cops being there are high... just don't speed.
Well, put simply, don't speed and you won't need it >
