AUTO SHOPS PISS ME OFF - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #12739 10 posts Started by YellowTwo
Why is it everytime I have a problem with my car it can never get fixed the FIRST time I go in? I don't get it. Isn't it there job to figure out what's wrong and how to fix it?

I just came back from a transmission shop because my auto tranny was having problems changing gears. They had told me I just needed a tune-up. I said okay go ahead and do the $230 tune-up.

There is no difference at all. The problem is still there. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't live like 40 miles away from the nearest city. I don't think I've ever had a problem fixed the first time I brought it in someplace. The same thing happened when I needed a new bumper, they didn't wire the lights right. And when I got my sound system installed, I had to go back at least 4 times.

I'm just pissed off right now. And in the process I also forgot my gas cap at the gas station, which is 40 miles away.

thats why you always pay mechanics with a credit card

if there work doesnt fix the problem, call yout CC company and tell them what happened and do a charge back

I think what's also important is to go to shop's which have a good reputation. Now having said that I ranted a week ago about an install by one of the best shop's in a city I use to live in. Guess you learn and move on without trying to get ripepd off.
My 3s-gte swap wont go over 4k RPM's... My mechanic that did the swap said its a turbo problem, and he originally said it was throwing out code 34 which is overboost. I checked the codes myself and there was no overboost code... it was an ignition code, and fixing the igniton problem (myself) only solved half the problem. So my mechanic not only cant fix the problem, but he just made up some engine codes.
I would say go back there.. then bitch how it didnt do anything.. an say you want it done.. maybe they'll give you a break on the cost for really fixing.. it might just work out..

yea man auto shops always do that. if you ever get something installed, lets say gauges or springs and stuff like that, be sure to take out the instruction manul or any decals that came with it. autoshops will steal your manul and decals so they can sell them.
and they always leave your car half done so you will go back to them.
money ripping bastards

The only time I used a shop is when I needed my clutch and fly wheel changed and the guy didn't bull**** around with us. The best advice I can give is to go buy one of those huge manuals, or print out one from the internet and read it. That way you can do all your own fixes. I can't stand those people who try to slime there way around the problem by wanting to fix the things around it and get more money from you.
