squeeky brakes... - 6G Celicas Forums

So lately my car has been pretty gay with its brakes. When im stopping from an average speed (anything above 20 or so mph), i hear my rear drums making a type of Grinding noise. i checked my shoes and they were fine. I had replaced my drums a few months ago thinking this would solve stopping issue, but i always hear this noise...

Also, my front brakes tend to be squeeking a bit, checked those also, but the pads still have a good amount of life on them, and solutions?
ONE more issue. When stopping from a normal speed, and at average pressure on the pedal, my my steering wheel tends to shake a bit between 20-40 mph. I checked my wheels and they are on pretty well. I was thinkin it could be the rotors... help would be appreciated.
it only shakes when braking. but thanx for the info. im pretty sure the wheels and tires are balanced too, tires are only about 5 or so thousand miles old
so i guess i need new rotors... >frown.gif> . Ive looked around at the Stock Brembo rotors, so thats an option. but mostly, im looking at price. Any suggestions?
a quick fix is to get your rotors cut. >biggrin.gif>

yeah, do what jeff said... my new rotors were like that when i put them on, so i got them cut, and they were fine...
how much is it to get the rotors cut?
if you find the right shop and you pull them out yourself. you could prolly get them cut for like 10 to 20 bucks

sorry I missed ur IM........

some brake pads squeek no matter what. I like ceramic pads...they dont make any noise and dont produce any black dust.
A reason they might make noise is because of salt...has it been rain lately if so that might be why...the Salt in the rain gets to the brake then they start to make nosie mine do it for aobut 2-3 days and stops.
yea my steering wheel shakes too but its sometimes when i stop at a light. when i put my hands on the wheel it stopps but when i let go its shakes any suggestions to wut it might be?
warped rotors?
checked the brakes on monday, all is well, so its definitely the rotors. the pads still have a good 1.5-2 cm on them, so Beefstew is most likely right, since its been doing it since i got the pads, they are semi-metallic so hey kinda suck, im over it though.
that is one long ass run-on sentence. Feel free to bucher that as much as you want.
