Ok so brian and me changed my oil today.... read the convo and help me out please!!!!!

Okay, honestly I don't know what your asking. What oil to you normally use? Is it always 10w30? If so, that has nothing to do with it. If you normally use oil completely different from that, you ****ed up. If thats the case, changing oils on your engine can strain oil gaskets (i think thats what it is, i'm having a blonde moment), and can make them leak because they swell if you use different oil types.

Do you have a new intake? Do you still have a stock intake box? If you have a new intake, it could be that bogging you up, if you have an intake already, forget I mentioned this. If you have a stock intake box, open that and make sure its not flooded with oil.

I'll add more. If your stock intake box is filled with oil, you blew an oil ring. You may have done that regardless, again because of changing the oil weight.

If there is thick smoke coming out, I bet he blew an oil ring. If thats the case, your car is worthless I believe.

Yeah ive had the injen short ram intake for over a year. I get my oil changed at tires plus every time this is the first time I have changed it myself. So im not sure what oil they use, but most likley it would be 10w30 wouldnt it?

The thing is, your oil rings can swell if you change the weight of the oil, normally it doesn't unless you keep changing it, but sometimes it can happen with a one-time thing. Its not that you ****ed up, its more that you may have had that one-time occurance and the oil rings didn't like the different oil.

So what should I do if thats the case?

sounds like he went from a senfetic (spelling-sorry) oil to a regular everyday oil, and he isn't use to it, or the engine really really didn't like it. Before i switch over to senfetic, my car idled a little bit harder. I go with pure, i love it, and i can feel the difference.

Now, as far as I know, stop smoke is some kind of additive that you add to your car when there is too much smoke coming out of your exhaust. If this is the case and your car was already realeasing smoke, then something inside must be messed up.

If that's the case, you have to determine what color the smoke was, and then you'll find your problem.

You may want to look here it talks about how additives can be detrimental to the performance of your engine. I doubt you blew anything up just changing the oil, but if you are using a new oil with an additive you may want to go back to your old one and see if that fixes the problem.

I tend to think that its not your oil thats causing these problems....the 5S-FE is meant to use 10w-30 so that shouldnt be an issue. First check just to make sure that no oil is leaking from either the oil pan bolt you took off or the oil cap on the valve cover. Also if you slopped any oil onto the engine in the process of changing it, it can smoke a bit and smell bad like you're runing your engine too hot.

After your sure both are tight and theres enough oil in the engine (or too much for that matter) and it still makes these obnoxious quirks, get it checked out by a reputable shop. Its not worth it to guess, and the description of the problem is so brief that i honestly dont know what else to recommend. Sometimes a simple tune up can do wonders...mine runs much smoother than it did before i got mine, so look into it if its really bad.

Besides, answers like "check your intake" or "your engine is already dead, sorry." arent really the best thing to go by anyway. >>

Our cars tend to vibrate a little under acceleration sometimes...i get this occasionally when im accelerating onto a highway and other people have encountered the same thing. I think it has to do with the small engine under load when climbing a hill or pushing it hard in a high gear. So dont worry to much, its normal.

Are you saying that you may have,by accident, used stop smoke instead of oil?

I went to tires plus yesterday and they told me it all had to do with my shocks. THey said it was just coincidential that this happened on the day i changed my oil. I think they are wrong because that doesnt explain why the car idles so rough now and still is hesitant when I hit the gas. So today I am gonna take it to another shop to let them look at it.

And ive been using the same gas for a very long time.

If you put an oil additive in along with a full ammount of oil, you might have too much oil in your engine.

That could bog down your engine alot...i know my engine felt less willing to rev when i got it back from my mechanic because they put an indicator dye in my engine to see where it was leaking oil. He told me that i should probably put fresh oil in it when i got it back, and since i did it feels smother and revs smoother.

Thats not to say that its definately what the problem is, but i would check that your oil level isnt too high first, and then take it to a good mechanic to get it checked out if it isnt. If you havent had your car looked at in a while, it might be overdue for some new belts or routine maintainence that will only reduce your risks of something serious happening down the road. >>

Ive been thinking about doing that for a while actually lol. That oil additive might just be the cause but tomorrow I am getting another shop to check it out. Wish me luck >>

you know what you should really do, just rechange the oil, and don't add anything. Just 4 nice quarts of oil, the same kind that you have had put in before (by the mechanics). And if problems keep on going, well, got me.
