Last week, my mechanic looks at me and said, "how much will a Skyline cost me to bring in?"

I said, over 1.1 million yen. But, we are only allows to bring in cars 99 and up now. Remember the 4yrs restriction for cars?

Mechanic: Not bad. Good! Good! >smile.gif>

Mechanic: I am looking for a 2.0l RWD.

I finally pulled up some price on the it today and look! Just a tab more dollars than a 6g celica and on par with a 7g celica.

Sight for info:

Now, this is bad. I am a Toyota lover. I have research toyota engines and mods extensively on the Supra, Celica, levin and BZ Touring wagon.

I have only look at the stats on the Skyline.

All of my magazines have the Beast on it in blue. (Super Street, Turbomagazine, Sports Compact Car, Modified Mag)

My problem is, my research have to start all over again.

I know that the engine are reliable and there are alot of mods available for them and the looks bad as ever. It can send chills down your spine.

With the same price existing and more for the Skyline GT over th Celica, should I purchase one for 2003 - 2004?

What do you guys think?

I believe my prob is that I really never like the celica except the engine and since I could not get a Supra, I had to settle for its little hidden sister?

My question goes out to the true celica lovers like Charlie and others.

Would you leave out your Celi and buy a Skyline? It is a real import car from JAPAN!

I would. HAHA. Why? Because it's very smooth looking. Dont' know how should i describes that but there you have it.
I love my celi with all my heart, but I would trade her in a heartbeat for a GT-R, even a R32 if it was a V-spec II. Then again, for the money my celi can't be beat, so no doubt I'll be keeping her for years to come.
In the usa, yes, but from directly from japan, the prices are almost the same.

look here >rolleyes.gif>

The last figure is the price in yen x 1000. 1US=119.85 YEN

I get updates on 6g celica price 800 -1200 Yen

7g Celis are 1100,000YEN and up

00 ZZT231 Silver Celica SS-2 M6 AC PS PW 1800 4.5 18 880 1158

The Skyline, a better vehicle all round to some respect are 900,000YEN and up.

So outside the US, it is a better car to get.

Remember that the skyline that I am looking at is not the R3x. It looks so except engine and a few details.
if you live in the US it will cost around $100,000 USD to bring in a skyline r34(if you want an R35, go and buy the infinity G35, it is the same thing, neither are turbo) and make it smog legal

for that much you can buy a supra and make it a lot better than the stock skyline you will be getting

skylines are the import unicorn in the americas, of course anyone here would say skyline in a heartbeat.

EDIT: if i lived in japan id probably say differently, id go for a ST205 before a skyline if they were both on the market.

no doubt for an r34. yea i love my celica but u can't compare a celica to a skyline speedwise period! and skylines do look lovely as hell.

my top 3 is
1. skyline
2. supra
3. celica
Same here except supra first.

I do know. Basically I love the shape, looks and technology in it.

First, I have to find out what are the main differences between the GT & the GT-R besides the engine.

I do know that the SR20DET is a 2.0l 4cyl turbocharge which revs higher than the 3SGTE.

I can apply all of my celi mods to the Skyline without any problems.

But the main thing is that it is RWD. I have never driven a RWD car. Making alot of power but no traction.

I have sat in a celi. I love the way how that car wraps around you. I love the shape since it looks like a supra.

Well, what I can say, I will see how the year turns out.

R34 Skyline

My list.
1. Honda Integra Type-R (will be purchasing when it comes back to America.)
2. Supra
3. Nissan Silvia Spec R

I'd love to have those fenders on the 3rd pick, those look awsome, drooool

i know ive been thru alot with my celi but unfortunately i would trade it in for any r32 or 34

if i can ill keep my celi for a daily driver tho >biggrin.gif>
id take a gt-4 over a r32 or r34 ne day shoot id take a supra before i took a skyline, just prefrence i guess. skylines are overrated, but no doubt they are a nice machene(SP?)
skylines are AWD and after they launch they switch to RWD at a certain speed

they put out a lot of power for a 2.6l engine but why go thorugh all the hassle? a supra may be more common but they are still pretty rare(i see 1 supra for every 15 6th gen celicas and about 100 civics and 70 integras/RSX's for every celica)

the silvia engine, the sr20det, make around 250hp and a lot less torque at high rpms(which is where all the power is) the 3sgte makes a lot of power down low which to me is more important. both engines are the same size and have the same quality

Both the 3sgte and the sr20det EAT VTEC(depending on the car they are in, the 240sx is heavy) respect/fear them both

1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition@gt4.wrc on Instagram
Skyline are not over rated.

There are true performers.

I would take a supra before a skyline, but a supra lack the traction and traction control of a skyline.

Each car have theirs pros and cons.

Both engines almost have the same power output within the same rpm range.

3SGTE
Output HP 255PS@6500
Output Torq 31.0kgm/4000
Displacement 1998cc
Bore and Stroke 86x86
Turbo CT12A
Compression 8.5:1
Injector Size 540cc/m

S15 Silvia Spec-R S15
Engine Designation SR20DET
Years Produced 1998-2002
PS/HP 250PS(247HP)@6400rpm
Torque 28.0kgm@4800rpm
Type 2.0l VVT DOHC I-4
Displacement 1998cc
Bore and Stroke 86x86
Turbo T-28/AR 0.64
Compression 8.5:1
Injector Size 480cc

Not having driven both, I do not know if the SR20DET would be a better performer to the 3SGTE.

Since the SR have VVT, it maybe possible that the engine can work up to 400HP without problem except with injectors problems.

Either way, both are very good engines and are race proven.

I guess at the end of the day, the supras using the 3SGTE engines in the JGTC always wins the race which might show you how well and versitile this engine is in the supra body.
