Just so I can say I have explored all my options, im curious what are most people running on the 7afe? I hear 50 is probobly a safe shot correct? What does a kit to preform a 50 shot cost, how is the kick in the ass when you use it, and how much does it cost to use it, like how much do you get outa a bottle full and how much are they? How many times have thoes of you using nos used it and have you noticed any dammage to your engine? Thanks ahead of time.

Shoot, i made sure not to put that in the title to not get flamed and forgot in the body. im looking at zex's after talkin to anderson.
its a good thing you brough this up cuz im interested in sprayin my st as well....only thing is my motor has 123k miles on it so i was wondering if a 50 shot would really damage it..or shorten the life span

A friend of mine owns a corolla that had a 7afe engine and a 94 celica c52 transmission. The engine had roughly 120,000 mile on it and he was using a 75 shot. He used it all the time and the motor held up really well. He would keep 2 bottles,one in the car and one for a backup. He filled both bottles once each week,but he he couldn't keep his finger off that button and used it alot. The motor did give out after about 3000 miles of abuse. He abused that engine and didn't take care of it too well though. It seemed really fast when he used nitrous and would set you back in the seat.

I used it for a while, with about a 50 shot in it. For me it ran real well, and give a hard kick when you wanted it. The power increase really surprised me. It is really fun for a fraction of the cost of a turbo kit. I took it off a few months ago, and the engine was running perfect (123,000 miles). A big concern though would be fuel management. That is probably the biggest thing I would worry about.
well I have 63k miles runs perfect running synthetic oil the last 12k miles engines really ready I do believe for most anything, I would only want a moderate 50 shot, I wouldnt go higher, and frankly if there was a zek kit that did a 35, I would like to stay between 35 and 50. Unfortunaly no zex kit does the 35 and 50 >frown.gif>
As I figure it, if 75 will hurt it if used in any form regularly, its not good for the car, and ill stick to somthing less dammaging.

nitrous is a temporary solution to a bigger problem - the fact that your car doesn't have any power. what will happen is, no matter what shot you'll get, you will use it all the time. i mean who doesn't like speed? then you'd be filling bottles left and right, on top of most likely damaging the engine because of lean conditions.

i would invest in a turbo kit, that way you can have boost for as long as you want, and if properly maintained, will be a lot more fun, and cost effective, than a spray.

I thought it would be fun to throw a 75 kit on before I do an engine swap (if that ever happens, damn college expenses) and just destroy the engine for fun >tongue.gif>

turbo will cost more then 3x the amount for nitrous. And from what I've read, you can get almost the same gains. Here's a my ground for the comment. 75 shot is 75 more hp. enough said. The turbo kits I've looked at usaully run 6psi and are only put a bit under 200hp (for 5sfe). So you can spend $3,000 for boost, or around $700-1,000 for nitrous. And nitrous may only be on when you push the button, where as the boost is always there. But if you wanna go fast, you can push the button, or mash the peddle for boost. It costs about $50 to refill a 10lbs bottel, but boost isnt cheap on gas mileage either. So really it's a trade off.

Me, I have Nos. As for the boost, I'd rather save up for the 3s, then have both.

As far as what you will need:

The kit brand is your choice. NX makes a great wet kit. I don't know a lot about Vemon, but what I do know its they're expensive and worth every penny. Nos is a good name as well. If my Nos kit was $300, and I had to pay full price, I'd of picked NX.

A remote pressure gauge will save you some headaches. Not only that, but chicks dig gauges. This way you can see if you need to purge w/o running to your hatch/trunk.

Also a purge kit. If you buy NX's genX-2's acces kit, you'll have the fuel pressure, bottle heater, purge and all that BS. I recommend this kit.

B4 nitrous, check your compression, oil change, make sure your celica is good running order. I also recommend this stuff called SeaFoam. You can buy it at carquest and it bisically cleans out the built up carbon in ur engine. And makes a huge cloud of smoke when you use it. Very cool.

Just curious, where you get yours and how much? Also how much are you using it and for how long, any noticable engine dammage?
