I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the type of power gains I can expect from an underdrive pully, msd ignition, and hiperground. if anyone has tryed anyof these out, was it worth it?

I think a ASP Underdrive pulley is suppost to give you a 8HP gain.
The others i don't know.

just to let you and everyone else know, aftermarket ignitions are a waste of money unless you really have your car modded. i am talking supercharger, turbocharger modded. your car is only going to take as much energy as it needs. the car is a smart machine. whether you have your stock ignition system or a $400 ignition system, your car is only gonna take as much energy as it needs. just a little tidbit of info for anyone looking into ignition. also a good song now out by r. kelly.lol >>

underdrive pully : 1-5hp gain

MSD : depending on which type use. Digital 6 Plus or better use Crane Cams HI6 w/ LX92 coil. MSD Digital 6 : 8 - 15HP Crane Cams: 10 - 25HP . ***

Exhaust : 8 -15+hp

*** depending on A/F ratio, ignition timing, fuel used, plugs, Air filter like Greddy, HKS which passes alot of air flow per cfm.

No long at all.

If your car have over 100K KM, you should change your timing belt the smae time.

Once purchases (256-264 degree), just swap them. A repair manual can help you.

Before you remove the the belt and cams, you have the choice for TDC or BDC OR turn the crank until the cams indicator matchs up the indicator on the head.

Again, a repair manual or someone who have done it before can give you exact detail.

But once you know what you are looking for, you are good.

that's mostly internal parts. don't waste money buildng the 7afe unless you are going to go turbo. it's an economy engine, cams and other parts normally good on an NA really won't help that much.

I agreed with Charlie on this one.

You see, if you had the 3SGE swap in you car, I would tell you to go for it.

I do not know, but there is a 7AGE which is a 4AGE head on a 7AFE block.

Research that.

I would advice you to try swapping in the 3SGE or 3SGTE. Greater benefits can be attains there.

ohhh the 7age... what ive always wanted to do, but never had the funds to do so. anyways... you'd probably be better off putting in a 3sgte or if you have a 7afe... a 4agze would be quite beefy. im more apt to talk about the a series engines since ive got a p.o.s. corolla and ive read quite a bit on what engine swaps/cross-breeds would be the best using the available mounts.

Charlie, I have a question. You seem to have knowledge of the -a- series engines, so...

Ok, I have a thought. It would takes loads of cash to get a 4agze in my car. It would take even more to 3sgte it. Now, It is also expensive to turbo it with 3s parts. BUT, I wonder if it's possible to get a 4agze super charger and find a way to mount it to my 7a. What do you think?

no i don't think it would work. the belts on the 4agze just won't line up i think... it would end up costing as much as a 3sgte swap, and be a pain in the ass, and probably wouldn't be reliable.

My thought was to get the charger for a low price off of an old Mr-2, (or go on 4agze.com and find somebody who did a turbo swap.) Mount it in some outlandish way, and run a belt to it. (which with the left engine mount where it is, would be a bit*h). What kind of boost did the 4agze SC have?

i was under the impression that you could swap the head off a 4agze along with the supercharger on a 7a block. problem is boost cant go insanely high, the connecting rods and crankshaft cant take all that much stress, but i read up on a 7agze... biggest concern is transmission, you need a beefy clutch to handle all the torque.

as for just taking the supercharger... doubt that'll work, plus the boost may be too much without lower compression pistons meant for the forced induction.

the 7-a has a 9.5:1 cr. It could handle boost up to about... 9ish. I realy don't think a factory supercharger would be anywhere near that though.

what ive read is it can take 5 or so reliably... but i figure if you're gonna buy the supercharger... may as well toss in the extra cash, get quite the beastly engine. ive never done it due to lack of money & ive got an automatic... that'll die quite fast & a manual conversion is just too much a pain in the arse

You could most likly find a SC from an older 4a for $200. It wouldn't be That hard to bolt it up, and it would give an easy 30Hp. Sounds quite cost effective.

okay, if i were to get my celica (IN GOOD TIME!) and swap the engine with a ST185 3SGTE then what would be the next logical mod to gain hp and torque? >>
